Description

Have you ever gone shopping in Japan as a vegan? It can be quite a challenge here, as the “vegan-label” is not very common yet and the ingredient list for processed foods can also be quite long.
And to top that off: all ingredients are usually written in Japanese! A whole new level of “checking ingredients as a vegan”, which can be so time consuming and nerve wrecking…
Therefore I created a list of the most common animal ingredients in Japanese for you to hopefully ease your next shopping trip! 😊

This is how the List is build up:
👉🏻English term (in alphabetical order)
👉🏻 the reading in romaji (so you can say the word if needed)
👉🏻the most common way it is written as an ingredient in Japanese (usually Kanji or Katakana)
👉🏻 I also added the hiragana to some words, just in case.

The list covers: meat, dairy products, fish/crustaceans and miscellaneous additives
